School Updates and Plans During COVID-19 Closure

On March 31, Premier Doug Ford announced an extension of school closures to May 4.

As per Ministry mandates, ISNA High School was closed on March 23rd and will remain so until further notice. We will continue to follow Ministry directives during the closure of schools.

During this time period, classes will be conducted fully online where students will be logging in daily into their Google Classroom, receive lessons on Zoom and/or have assigned work to complete, and have an opportunity to get extra support from teachers online.

for E-Learning

We do not know how long this school closure will last, but we are prepared for all scenarios by consulting with experts in the medical field and experts in online learning, and through trust in Allah.

We continue to focus our efforts on providing our students with learning opportunities that will help build their capacity in this ever-changing world. E-learning will allow students to study remotely in any environment which will ensure continuous student engagement. We want to use this time to build confidence in our students and equip them with skills they will need to apply themselves in unfamiliar circumstances. E-learning provides students with continuous structure and purpose to move forward in their learning during this closure.

Please note during this school closure the following staff will continue to be available via email and audio conference for any questions, feedback, or support that is needed for students and parents:

Ms. Mohsini Guidance Counselor: [email protected]

Ms. Aslam Vice Principal: [email protected]

Mr. Rasoul Principal: [email protected]

In an effort to ease the financial stress for parents, the School Board will delay the monthly payment at this current time and will not withdraw April’s tuition fees. This will not impact student learning and e-learning will continue for all students.

Any parent who has lost their job and/or require financial assistance please send an email to [email protected]

During these times of uncertainty, ISNA High School will continue to place our student’s education, mental health, and quality of learning at the forefront.

Assalaamu Alaykum

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We pray that you and your families are continuing to do well. May Allah (SWT) protect all our families, our elders and young ones, and the community as a whole against this trial. May Allah (SWT) keep us strong in our faith and give us the patience to see this through, and may we all come out of this stronger in every way.

Alhamdolillah we are coming to the end of the 1st week of our e- learning program. You, the parents have been very encouraging in your feedback and have been supportive of your childrens’ learning using this method. The ISNA School Board (ISB) is very grateful for your patience as the school launched this new learning venture as an alternative means of continuing our student’s education without interruption.

Premier Ford announced on Monday, March 23, 2020 that students will not be returning to school on April 6. Looking at the developments around COVID-19, ISB is doing their best in preparing for the uncertainty of the extended closure and continuing to work to support parents, staff and students. We ask for your support to continue to help us in scenarios that lie ahead of us. We do not have any additional, official details at this time.

We commend the Administrative staff for their countless hours of tireless determination to see the launch and to make it successful and beneficial for the students. Each member of the teaching staff must be highly commended for their enthusiasm and their commitment to making this work. They have been offering personalized learning support in addition to their group learning activities. The students have been very receptive to this new method of learning and have been expressing their happiness at being able to connect with their teachers and friends.

We have learned from this first week of classes, and Insha’Allah week 2 will bring further structure and enhancement to the program. We will continue to offer the best education possible using this platform for as long as it is necessary to do so.

This is a particularly trying time for everyone. We know there are families in our school community who may be going through difficulties in various forms; be it financial, health challenges, or difficulties known only to you. We pray that Allah (SWT) by His Mercy eases your situation and makes it bearable.

Please know that that the ISNA School Board (ISB) is here to offer its support. We plan to continue the school virtually till we get more guidance from the Ministry of Education and during this time if you require any financial assistance please send us an email at [email protected]. In an effort to reach out to families and community, we have set up this email where you may contact us confidentially should you need any assistance during this transition.

We pray that you and your families continue to stay safe and protected.
