Obaid Yarkhan, PrincipalM.Ed. B.Ed. B.A. OCT
Mr. Obaid Yarkhan joined ISNA Elementary School as a teacher in 2005 and became Principal in 2006. In 2004, he completed his Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. In 2005, Mr. Yarkhan obtained his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto - Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). In 2012, he completed his Master of Education degree also from the University of Toronto OISE focusing on developing, implementing and evaluating curricula. Among his professional interests are school administration, personnel and program evaluation, curriculum studies, psychology, online learning environments and research into Muslim youth and their upbringing in Canada.
Fariz Tayara, Administrator
Mr. Fariz Tayara joined the ISNA organization in 1981 at the Jame Mosque in Toronto where he taught Arabic and Islamic Studies. Later, when ISNA Elementary School opened in 1983, he held various positions throughout the years. Mr. Tayara serves on ISNA Elementary School's administration team handling all matters related to the facility and school development duties as well as other tasks in the school.
Sadia Ahmed, Teacher AdministratorB.Sc. Ed; OCT
Ms. Sadia Ahmed joined ISNA Elementary School in 2006. She has been a Teacher-Administrator since 2010. She obtained her Honours Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Central Florida majoring in Early Childhood in 2002. She received her Ontario Certificate of Qualification, Additional Basic Qualification and Junior Division in 2006. Before joining ISNA Elementary School she worked as a Kindergarten Teacher for Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida. Ms. Ahmed serves on ISNA Elementary School's Administration team handling staffing and program development among other duties. She also teaches social studies and health and physical education.
Vaseema Arifuddin, Teacher-AdministratorB.Ed; B.Eng; OCT
Ms. Vaseema Arifuddin has been a part of ISNA Elementary School for the fourth non-consecutive year, first joining in 2007. Prior to her arrival in Canada she worked in Oman as a biomedical engineer. In 2009, she completed her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE). She received her Ontario College of Teachers certification in 2010. She has successfully taught grades 5 to 11 in different Canadian schools, gaining a great amount of industry experience ranging from core teaching to educational entrepreneurship. Ms. Arifuddin also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering along with a diploma in Management Studies which gives her a competitive edge in teaching various mathematics, science and technical subjects. She also had the opportunity to teach internationally in Gems American Academy, Abu Dhabi which gave her an exposure to the Chicago Mathematics curriculum. These several career roles have equipped Ms. Arifuddin to evolve as a critical thinker and strategically plan to build her students' level of confidence. She has a great passion to ensure that her students look forward for an engaging and thought provoking math and science classes. She has learned extensively from the diverse knowledge and learning habits of students, by creatively building an Islamic learning environment. This has embedded in her a wealth of experience to help her bring vision, professionalism and culture to the classroom. She hopes to build upon these experiences and continue to enjoy her every new day as a teacher. Currently, Ms Arifuddin is the Head of Mathematics at ISNA Elementary School .
Abdihamid Osoble, Teacher-AdministratorB.Sc.
Mr. Abdihamid Osoble joined ISNA Elementary School in 2001. He is a hafidh of the Quran. He has ijazas (scholarly permissions) in hifdh-al-Quran (Quran memorization) and ilm al faraa’id (laws of inheritance). He has learned many Islamic sciences such as aqaa’id (creed), fiqh(jurisprudence), tafseer (exegesis), and ahadith (narrations of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam). He holds study circles of tafseer and other topics in the Greater Toronto Area. He is an active member of the Muslim community. Also, Mr. Osoble has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Technology from Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia and has a 3 year diploma in Pharmaceutical Chemical Technology from Seneca, College in Toronto, Ontario. Currently, Mr. Osoble is the Curriculum Advisor for Religious Studies and Arabic and he teaches Quran and Islamic Studies to Grades 6 to 8.
Zareena Mustapha, Secretary
Ms. Zareena Mustapha has been working as the secretary at ISNA Elementary School since 1994. Before coming to ISNA Elementary she worked as a secretary at the ISNA Canada Office in Toronto.
Yarnee Aisha Hasanee, Finance and Human ResourcesB.Ed.
Ms. Yarnee Aisha Hasanee has been working as the Finance and Human Resources Manager for ISNA Schools since 1996. She has a background in accounting and finance and also holds a Bachelor of Education.
Khoula Khan, TeacherB.Ed. B.A. E.C.E. OCT
Ms. Khoula Khan joined ISNA Elementary School in 2011. She completed her Bachelor of Education degree from York University in 2011 and prior to that her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ryerson University in 2009. In addition she has also completed her Early Childhood Education from Centennial College. She received her Ontario College of Teachers certification in 2011. Currently, Ms. Khan is the Junior Kindergarten teacher.

Sabia Zargar, Teacher AideB.Sc. B.Ed.
Ms. Sabia Zargar joined ISNA Elementary School in 2013. She completed both her Bachelors of Science and Bachelor of Education from University of Kashmir, India. She started her teaching practice in her homeland in Kashmir. Later, she continued teaching in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Currently she teaches in the Junior Kindergarten classroom.

Firial Artan, TeacherB.Ed. B.A. E.C.E. OCT
Ms. Firial Artan joined ISNA Elementary School in 2009. She completed her Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts, Specialist Honours from York University in 2009. She also completed her Early Childhood Education diploma from George Brown College. She received her Ontario College of Teachers certification in 2009. Currently, Ms. Artan is the Senior Kindergarten teacher.

Azra Khan, TeacherB.Ed. B.Sc. OCT
Ms. Azra Khan has been teaching at ISNA elementary since 1985. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in 1973 and her Bachelor of Education degree in 1992. She received her Ontario College of Teachers certification in 2004. She also has completed several Additional Qualifications in English as a Second Language, Guidance and Special Education. Currently, Ms. Khan is the Grade 1 teacher.
Sama Hamid, TeacherM.T. B.Sc. OCT
Ms. Sama Hamid joined ISNA Elementary School in 2013. She completed her Master of Teaching graduate degree from University of Toronto's Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE), where she gained valuable research experience and teacher certification. She attained a Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto as well. Her Additional Qualifications include Special Education Part 1. She received her Ontario College of Teachers certification in 2013. Ms. Hamid has experience working with children of various age groups, needs, abilities and interests. In her classroom, she implements Tribes agreements of mutual respect, attentive listening, and helping to build inclusion and a welcoming environment for her students. Currently, Ms. Hamid is the Grade 2 teacher.
Lizna Bukhari, TeacherB.Ed. B.A. OCT
Ms. Lizna Bukhari joined ISNA Elementary School in 2009. She obtained her Honours Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University in 2009, with a major in Sociology. She received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in Oshawa, Ontario in 2009. She received her Ontario College of Teachers certification in 2009. Currently, Ms. Bukhari is the Grade 3 teacher.
Sumayyah Hussein, TeacherB.Ed. B.Journ. B.A. OCT
Ms. Sumayyah Hussein joined ISNA Elementary School in 2006. After an absence to pursue other opportunities she returned in 2012. In 2004, Ms. Hussein obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, with a major in English and minors in Psychology and French as a Second Language. In 2006, she also completed a Bachelor of Journalism at Ryerson University, majoring in magazine writing. In 2008, she obtained her Bachelor of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, specializing in Junior/Intermediate English. She received her Ontario College of Teachers certification in 2008. Currently, Ms. Hussein is the Grade 4 teacher.
Ammara Ahmad, TeacherB.Ed. B.Sc. OCT
Ms. Ammara Ahmad joined ISNA Elementary School in 2011. In 2007, she obtained her Honours Bachelors of Science degree from University of Toronto focusing on Biology and Health Sciences. She completed her Bachelors of Education from University of Ontario Institute of Technology in 2009. Ms. Ahmad received her Ontario College of Teachers certification in 2009. Previously she gained valuable experience teaching internationally in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Currently, Ms. Ahmad is the Grade 5 teacher.
Tarek Mahmoud, TeacherB.A. Ed. OCT
Mr. Tarek Mahmoud joined ISNA Elementary School in 2010. In 1992, he graduated from the School of Education in Zagazig University, Egypt. Mr. Mahmoud's career started in Egypt where he was teaching English as a foreign language to elementary and high school students. Afterward, he received a scholarship from St. John’s University, NY, U.S.A. For the next 12 years, Mr. Mahmoud taught at one of the most reputable technical colleges in Saudi Arabia as an English language lecturer. Mr. Mahmoud received his teaching certification from the Ontario College of Teachers in 2010. He also has a Teaching English as a Second Language Diploma from the Canadian College of Educators in 2013. He is also in the process of completing his Master of Arts in TESOL program at Western Trinity University. At ISNA Elementary School, Mr. Mahmoud teaches Arabic and Computer Studies. Mr. Mahmoud is also the school's Head of Information Technology.
Malak Al-Nahas, TeacherB.A.
Ms. Malak Al-Nahas joined ISNA Elementary School in 2009. She has completed her Bachelor of French Literature degree from the University of Damascus in Syria, which is certified from the University of Toronto’s Equivalency board. She has completed Language courses in French, English, Arabic, and Latin. She has also lived in France for over five years of her life enabling her to gain a further proficiency in French language and culture. Furthermore, she has attended many educational workshops and has taken various teacher education classes such as courses taught by the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario. Ms. Al-Nahas has extensive experience teaching French, Arabic, Islamic Studies and Quran totaling more than 10 years. In addition, she has worked in the field of translation in Saudi Arabia. She is an active member of the Muslim community; for the last 8 years she has volunteered as an Arabic and Quran teacher at Riyadh Alsaleehin School. She has a wide variety of teaching experience in Islamic and public schools. Currently, Ms. Al-Nahas teaches French and Advanced Arabic at ISNA Elementary School.
Naimeh Rakie, TeacherB.A. E.C.E.
Ms. Naimeh Rakie joined ISNA Elementary School in 1989. She has a Bachelors degree in Arabic and English Literature from Lebanon. She has her Early Childhood Education diploma from Humber College. Currently, Ms. Rakie teaches Arabic and Islamic Studies at ISNA Elementary School.
Habeeba Khatoon, LibrarianB.A.
Ms. Habeeba Khatoon joined ISNA Elementary School in 2002. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Osmania University in India. Her first position was Teacher Aide for various classrooms. Since 2008, Ms. Khatoon has been ISNA Elementary School's Librarian. She regularly attends various seminars, workshops and training sessions that are offered by different organizations.
Maira Khalid, TeacherB.A. B.Ed.
Ms. Maira Khalid joined ISNA Elementary in the year 2014. She completed her Honours
Bachelor of Arts degree with minor in Psychology and Religious studies at McMaster
University. In 2013, she completed her Bachelor of Education from Queens University and
received her certification from The Ontario College of Teachers. Her additional qualifications
include Special Education Part One and Basic Intermediate Mathematics. Ms. Khalid hopes to
promote inclusivity in her classroom by maintaining the notion of equity and social justice.
